Globalization is the principal cause of the flooding of infectious diseases. Every year a lot of people is contagious by West Nile Virus, Swine flu and AIDS epidemics as HIV, because people in this open world needs to go to another country for work, fun, vacation and find better opportunities to be successful, as a result we experiment the contagious of Swine Flu, for example according to CNN (2009) in Costa Rica we had 718 confirmed cases with 27 deaths  and the majority was in San Jose, so this statistics  show that our country is very vulnerable to the infectious diseases. Also in 1999 the West Nile Virus was detected in the Western Hemisphere produce 500 deaths around the world according to the U.S Center for Diseases Control and Prevention. The most important infectious diseases that affect 60 millions people are the HIV. These illness is the most deadly cause in Africa. However, it expands in all continents and millions of people have to live with this every day. Finally, we learn that these diseases are the bad side of globalization and is difficult to control their contagious measures.

Television has destroyed communication among friends and family

There are a lot of TV shows in the world and people really enjoy watching them. Unfortunately TV influences us as bad way, so I agree with this statement ‘Television has destroyed communication among friends and family’ for a couple of reasons: TV can’t help to communicate at all and people become like to spend time by themselves a lot.                                        

First of all, in my opinion we are not able to communicate with watching TV even though we do together, because we don’t have to talk. Moreover, we can spend time with no conversation. I think it is kind of sad. We need to talk and communicate because we are humans. For example, I watched the movie on the DVD last night with my friends but we didn’t talk a lot. After watching the DVD, we just went home. However, before TV came out, we used to go to the cinema so many times. I think it was good opportunity to communicate with friends or family such as having dinner before/after movies and drinking some beer. Second, personally spending time alone is getting higher these days, because TV helps us to avoid communicating. Also, we never get bored it. We can watch TV forever if we want. Therefore, some people become to be scared to see people. They are just at home all day with TV. For example, one of my friends is really interested in watching animation, and he has spent his most of time on watching them for 2 years. Finally, he decided to work at home such as internet working and he can’t get out of his house. He is scared of people. He said ‘I don’t need to communicate with people. It is just annoying for me.’

In conclusion, there are so many problems that are caused by TV these days. It is a big horrible influence to communicate for people. I like to watch TV of course. However, I also like to talk with my friends and family. We shouldn’t forget how to communicate with people otherwise it is going to indicate we are not humans

Blind Side Movie!

John Lee Hancock, Jr. (born December 15, 1956) is an American screenwriter, film director, and producer. He is best known for directing the sports drama films The Rookie and The Blind Side.

Blind Side is an interesting movie that makes people feel sadness, happiness and emotion. Is about a boy call Michael Oher. He has been in foster care with different families throughout Memphis, Tennessee. Every time he is placed in a new home, he runs away. The coach of a private Christian school, help him enroll and his son. He was impressed by Mike's size and athleticism.

After school, Michael is befriended by Sean Jr. "SJ". After a late night Thanksgiving school play, Leigh Anne notices a poorly dressed Michael walking on the road, shivering in the cold; when she learns he intends to spend the night huddled outside the warm gym, she offers him a place to sleep. The next morning, she finds Michael leaving. She asks him to spend the holiday with her family. Slowly, Michael becomes part of the Tuohy family, even as Leigh Anne's rich friends wonder what she is doing.

When his grades improve, Michael is allowed to join the school football team. Leigh Anne goes in search of Michael. He finally calls her, and they meet at a neighborhood laundromat. Leigh Anne tells him she will support any decision he makes.

Later, leaving Michael at the university, Leigh Anne feels happy for Michael and also for what he has done to strengthen her family. The film ends with the 2009 NFL Draft, showing the real Michael Oher being drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the first round. A montage of photographs of Oher and the real Tuohys follows, with Oher's success in the NFL detailed.

Television has destroyed communication among friends and family

 Actually many people spend a lot of time watching television.  Television was one of the most amazing invent that people did. Also is one of the favorite hobbies of children, adults and grandparents. But television has good and bad effects. One of the effects is that destroy family and friends communication. In this essay we discuss this effect and the arguments that said that this effect is wrong.

First, TV has good aspects. Watching it every day is a common hobby of people. They can gather information, knowledge and can rest. TV is only electric equipment; it has no bad impact on communication among friends and family. The main reasons are that television program is among the most popular topics in everyday talk. In addition, many sport lovers always find live sport program a great time for gathering. And, believe it or not, talking about weather forecast is a very effective way for many to start a conversation.

To begin with, many often find themselves engaging in a conversation about last night shows on television. Teenagers and women are especially the big fans of television series and soap operas. And they find it enjoyable telling people, including family members and friends, about their impression on certain scenes and sharing their opinions of characters in the show they had watched. Also, many sport lovers have found live sport program a great time for gathering of friends. What is better than having friends around, talking about what is going on in the game, and maybe bet on the winner of the game. World Soccer, for example, always attracts a crowd of men; and this exciting game will last as their main talk for many weeks. It is impossible to communicate by TV. TV performs vision and sound. It cannot get in touch people and others. People love watching TV because they can relax.

Second, it is a way of communication among people of one country and different countries and nations. People watch TV to find out about the latest news, weather, sports, etc. It is a great way to learn new and extend one's range of interests. Scientists say that children spend the same amount of hours in front of TV as they do in school.

Third, couple centuries ago people spent their time gambling, reading, gossiping or playing chess. Television is not a cause of destroyed communication among family members and friends. First of all, if members of a family have common interests and they want to make each other happy they will always find many ways to spend their time together and be close. Otherwise, if people avoid each other and they do not have anything to share with each other they will find television a great way to escape from this miserable existence.

Finally, we define a television like a simple track used by mankind for entertaining and relaxing, in fact it is an excellent means to communicate and not a cause of family disintegration and loss of relationship.

Alcoholism

The effect of Alcoholism

Alcoholism is one of the stronger problems in society. The consequences of this disease are really serious. Many people get used to drink alcohol in parties, vacations, on weekends, etc. and they can easily abuse; that is the problem. The Objective of this essay is to show the physical, psychological, and economic effects of alcoholism.

The first effects are physical. It can cause your death. For example, alcoholism causes cancer in the stomach, kidneys, and liver. Alcohol alters the digestion of nutrients that the body needs to stay healthy. Also causes severe damage in the neurons, so it causes alterations in the body movements, loss of appetite, and depression.

The second effects are psychological. At the beginning, alcohol makes you feel relaxed, but if you drink it in excess, it increases anxiety and causes depression. It also causes family and legal problems, violence, changes of behavior, suicide, among others. Alcohol is very powerful and alters all your normal behaviors.

The third effects of alcoholism are economic. According to the National Institute and Drug Abuse, drug abuse and dependence cost an estimated $98 billion. Alcohol is not cheap. If you drink two or three times in a week, it could cost you about $1000 pesos or more a week! People do not think about the money and spend almost everything when they are drunk.

In conclusion, the effects of alcoholism which are physical, psychological, and economic can cause many problems that affect your life in all aspects. Alcohol alters your brain, muscles, digestion process, and other disorders that affect your health. It also can cause you depression or changes in your behavior that result in problems with your family, friends, and with yourself. Besides, it will leave you in poverty because it cost a lot. For that reasons is better think twice if a good idea drink alcohol is.

Inmigration

Disadvantages of immigration in Costa Rica

 

Immigration in Costa Rica gives to our population some bad situations for different reasons. First, we experiment an over population that creates more poverty, violence and illegal business. Because those immigrants search a better life, they do bad things to subsist; as drug traffic, prostitution, piracy, criminal acts. Second, according to La Nacion (2010) 6,9% of Nicaraguan people live in extreme conditions of poverty, so it means that the government of Costa Rica is helping those people with health and education services; and the Costa Rican citizens are receiving less support. Third, our future generations are going to be affected by foreign customs, it is going to lose culture but a growing mixture of traditions. Finally, immigration affects socially, culturally and demographically to our country, so it result in a heterogeneous society.

POVERTY

POVERTY

Actually poverty is a situation that lives a lot of people, not only Costa Rican people; around the world poverty is a big threat. I already know about bad situations that life people, but I think the badness thing in life is didn’t had anything to eat. I met a woman who had only two children; she worked in a restaurant, she was very nice, she lives well. But one day she was a traffic accident victim. From that day her life experiment a big change, she didn’t had support, and she was alone and with two little children. She had a mutilation of leg. She hadn’t anything, nothing of money, nothing for eat. She need to change her home, she go to my neighborhood and decide to start a new life. She talks with all people that life in my quarter and everybody choose help that woman. She began cooking hamburgers, pizza, tacos, patty and many funk food. She goes house by house selling meals. After several months she can rent a better house, she can bring everything to her children. And now, she has a soda call "La esperanza". So this is a story of life, an example of effort and love. I think poverty is a synonym of vagrancy, I know nowadays opportunities are scarce but the simple fact of wanting to live and overcome is the inspiration to overcome poverty

Dear Organization:

The last September 22 we participate in a conference that was called " The impact of verbal logical in the context of globalization" by Federico Gutierrez and Ethel Pazos; both of them excellent professionals and with a large career.

The activity was timely, was interesting and specific. The exhibitors talked about punctual topics like communication, social networks, technology, writing, expression and the most important issue was the influence of globalization in the way we act, we think and we write at the present time.

Also we perceive how the globalization affects our lives and the mistakes that day at day we make when we express our ideas. Humans depend on information to raise messages and argue situations.

However the message of the conference was true and we reflect; I expect more of Federico Gutierrez who speak little and without examples.

GLOBAL WARMING

Global warming

 Actually global warming is one of the most powerful threat. For that reason, around the world; countries, organizations and companies become aware and create measures to help the planet. For example United States and NASA sent a satellite to report the restoration of the ozono layer so people can know if we make changes. Although the situation is difficult, we can make changes and develop armony systems with environment. Changes like reduce water, energy, bad materials. Also recycle, use alternative energies, reduce greenhouse gases, planting trees. However organizations had been forced to restart the way things had being doing, and started a new culture hand to hand with environment to changed climate. Now, many countries are part of the Kioto protocol, which involve different goals and how we can fullfilled. In general, global warming is a consequence of our own bad decisions and the way we decided to life and the presure we made to the environment; so if  we did that bad things, we can assume the responsibility and decide now to change those things and learn it to new generations.

Human rights

Costa Rica is a pacific nation, a perfect place to life because t has a wonderful climate, beautiful nature and people are very nice. Also Costa Rica is a democratic country that fights to create more civil, political, economical and social rights. However, it is a country that experiments serious problems like slow judiciary system, childhood work, inequality, violence, prostitution. But also experiments good situations like freedom, peaceful, association, prohibition of forced or compulsory labor, acceptable conditions of work Although Costa Rica has a constitution which guards human rights, we know actually bad situations, for example Nicaraguan suffer discrimination, they use our country as an asylum, and ticos only give to our neighbors forced and difficult works. Women who wents to our country only work in houses and in many cases they don’t have the right of education, opinion… But in general Costa Rica has a good level in human right, we didn’t have army, we didn’t been slavery, we had who defend us, government and constitution!!!!
